I got an e-mail from Nintendo this week offering to give me 500 Wii points for the Shop Channel. I go redeem the points and instead they give me NES Mario Bros. I was mainly pissed because I have 600 existing points and I wouldn't been able to get Dracula X with those 500. Anyone else get one of these e-mails and did you get actual points or a damn game?

edit: I come home from work today, check my e-mail and I have another e-mail, it looks exactly the same, 500 free points, except it has a different code. I try to redeem the points through the ticket redemption thing and it doesn't work, I check the instructions in the e-mail and this time it links to the actual Wii points redemption page so now it's actually 500 points and not a game. I was thinking about Castlevania Rebirth but I think I'll just go with Dracula X.

I guess you were one of those who bought the browser they switched back to free.

You're making a better choice there on Dracula X. The PSP version I had for some reason just felt wrong and wasn't fun, but I had a copy of that game on the VC and it's fantastic and worth it. Rebirth is a remaster of the original semi-annoying original GB Castlevania so unless someone is a big fan of that game it's probably not all that worthy of a grab.

I had the browser for free but I got both keys? but they only let me use the 1st key, had I not purchased Super Mario Bros with it, I could have had two games. :(

Oh well a free game is a free game! ;)



The new and improved King of Lamers 2003!

I've bought maybe 10-15 games from VC and WiiWare combined so maybe they like me and since I haven't bought in a while they were trying to pull me back in.

So what did they change with Dracula X? The intro dialogue was different, still in German but they re-recorded that track for some reason. I've only ever played an emulated version of Dracula X PCE but on VC it looks better or something, it's like maybe the emulation is extremely accurate but it just feels and looks very solid compared to what I'm used to seeing on the PC emulators.

For the first key I got I had to go to the settings menu and do "Wii Download Ticket" which gave me the game. For the second key I got I had to redeem it just like using a Wii Points card and it gave me actual points then.

Well if I had the points Id get it and let you know since I used to run the cd on a Turbo Duo to play it, but I doubt Konami bothered re-recording anything as they suck these days.

I probably should go see if I have points, but I doubt it. I keep off that wiiconnect24 crap as I see no reason running the system hot when I don't use it.

Yeah the 2nd one wouldn't give it to me as it was the game I bought with the 1st ticket :(

If I had used the first ticket for anything but Super Mario Bros, I'd have gotten Super Mario Bros with the 2nd Ticket, but alas I already have the game! :(

Oh, fired up the Wii for the first time since Mid-January and I don't have points so it has to be related to those who paid for the browser. I checked the mailbox and opened up the lame store and it has a 0 balance.

Oh well no biggie. I wish they'd switch their policy back to how it was a couple years ago where you owned the rights to the game. I stopped buying Wii downloads over it because now if your shit breaks, you either send the system to Nintendo and pay the fee or you're screwed as you lose all the downloads you did. When DSi popped up they changed it to be system specific so you can't swap like you can do with PSN and xbl too. I hate them for it as there's games I'd grab on both.
