SubjectI'm thinking of moving to the US new Reply to this message

Australia is too expensive to live in. I can buy a whole US street for the price of a house here!

I need to know the following;

1. Where will I live?
2. How much does an entry level IT support job pay?
3. Is it true strip joints have to choose between showing tits or serving alcohol?

I'm probably missing some important details.

You have two choices:

1) Dumpster
2) Cardboard box

> 2. How much does an entry level IT support job pay?

100 rupees a day.

Maybe in other jurisdictions, but here, it's showing vag or serving alcohol. The upside is that even if you're only eighteen, you can still get into a strip club that shows everything. I would imagine that, say, Vegas wouldn't have this issue, nor would Utah (but for polar opposite reasons).

I made the same move 12 years ago for pretty much the same reasons (well, that and not being able to find a job). I don't regret it... But things are still tough here right now with the economy being the way that it is.

Property prices vary by state, county, city, and even street. Same as anywhere really, but for what I would have paid for a relatively modest house in an OK part of L.A., I can buy two or three larger ones (Virginia) on more property out here for the same money. Having said that, I'm probably going to be relocating to Seattle in the next 3-4 months. More:

Where the jobs are. This more than anything else is going to dictate where you end up. I'm in a relatively small (25,000 people) rural area; my job options are either a) take short-term contracts and work from home for less money than I'd make in a real job but with a lower cost of living, or move up to the DC area and deal with all the attendant crap (traffic, people) of being there.

> 2. How much does an entry level IT support job pay?

$12-$15/hr. That can be higher depending on what kind of support you're doing, whether it's a contract or full-time position, etc.

> 3. Is it true strip joints have to choose between showing tits or serving

Most places I've been, yep. If you do end up in L.A., be sure to visit Jumbo's Clown Room. It's an experience.

> I'm probably missing some important details.

The country's huge. Fortunately, being from Australia, you're used to that - but just to let you know, both the social and employment cultures on the West and East coasts are a lot different. Degrees are a plus, as are industry qualifications / certifications (looks good on emigration applications as well). If you can line up employment in Oz with an American company first who could sponsor you for an eventual transfer, that would also help.

I was lucky in that I had family here already. If I didn't, I'd've been uber-screwed.

Another point to consider is are you looking for a job to sponser your H1 Visa? Not a lot of entry level openings in Northern Kali right now that will do that. Some suggestions are to look at craigslist job boards for various cities you are considering for an idea on what's available, citizenship status required, and sometimes how much it pays. If you know people in areas you are considering see if then can help you find a reputable job recruiter. And you don't want to come to Kali. Cost of living is too high, the state is broke, and too many faggot ass tree huggers.

SubjectWTF, even in TN we have full nudity + alcohol. new Reply to this message

What prudish states are you fuckers living in!? ;) I think the only limitation strip joints in Tennessee have is that you have to stay 3-feet (ONE METER!) away from the strippers but last I checked I was drinking and watching a fully-naked woman on stage. The last time I went to a strip joint I can't remember if they actually served alcohol but you could bring your own and they would charge you maybe like $5/case and when you got in they'd provide buckets of ice that you could stick your drinks in.

Name a state and we should be able to give you somewhat of an idea of what it's like. Example: California: CK's shitter

I want to make the move in the next couple of years, by then I will be a network engineer with experience. I'm currently a lower management shithead, that's why I specified entry level IT as managing isn't a useful skill.

I earn about $50k a year currently and want to buy (own even) a house before I move to the US. I really have no idea where I want to go, but my requirements are; good size house and land (4 beds 2 cars), IT jobs available, no churchies, no gangster rapper wannabes, tits, within an hour drive of the beach (I can live without the beach), I think that is pretty much it.

It slipped my mind that the US isn't part of the commonwealth so I can't just move in and collect unemployment :( I know now I'll have to look for ways to become a citizen too.

2 hours or so from the beach, the Research Triangle Park is there with high tech jobs, and you can get housing on the cheap if you're willing to commute a bit to work every day.

Entitlement caught on. Everyone thinks they can have anything, and someone else will pay for it. Plus we have all the shit stains from Hollywood that think they know what we all need.

That's what I think. Seems like there's too much government control in CA and the government is too willing to give free services to people that won't ever pay any taxes. Of course, there's more take than give and now they're broke. Don't the liberal Hollywood types make enough money to pay a ton of taxes to keep the government going or do they hide their income and only act like they care?

Unemployment is pretty high. Toyota just shut down the NUMMI plant in Fremont, so everyone is bitching about that. EDD is being seriously drained. Thing is, there are jobs if you go out and find them. Everyone just wants to bitch about it, or where the free Obamacare is. I know this tree hugging fuck that hasn't worked in 5 years, because the only jobs he can get he thinks are beneath him.

Hollywood only cares about repealing Prop 8 or Haiti. And they want donations, not that they'd use their money. With all the shit Sandra Bullock is getting, it's unlikely to tap her for another million, like that she did that last Tsunami. But she's probably the only celebrity in history ever to put up before whining to the public. I'm sure if you film or record out of state, you don't pay state taxes.

If I wasn't stuck here I'd take TN over Kali just for the Memphis BBQ.
