Billy Mitchell is from my era of video games (late 70s-early 80s) when the arcade and console games were just getting started.

Mitchell annoyed me then.

For a while during the 80s I held the world record at Gorf, btw.... 1,237,500

I don't recall you ever boasting about that, at least on this board.

What I've always disliked about Mitchell is that on outward appearances he seems to have everything he wants. But if you look closer they are all just trophies, he likes to throw in your face. I'm not so sure Twin Galaxies should even be the record keepers for Guiness. They all come off like they are in his pocket.

So were you in that Donkey Kong movie, when they showed all the record holders as kids?

Hehe no. I made the Gorf score in a little arcade the local movie theater had. Of course the employees weren't paying attention to what was going on (proved by my friends and me as we kept sneaking into movies there), so there was no hard evidence of me getting the score. The manager only saw the 237,500 and accepted me telling him it was really 1,237,500. I submitted the score to Twin Galaxies but they never accepted it. Bastards.

Now, here is an image that purports to be from Twin Galaxies. It wasn't. It's a scan from Electronics Games magazine from February 1983. I know it's not from Twin Galaxies because my name is on it hehe.

I had a "Guinness Book of World Records on Bump N Jump (1987 Guinness Book,) but oddly it was using different settings than Twin Galaxies uses.

I had to play with only one extra car, not the default settings, although with the default settings, I seriously doubt I ever could have gotten 2 million+ points, I think my best was ~1.6 million, but that was years ago.

It was a cool accomplishment and I still have the trophy, that I had to assemble, but I don't think it makes me 3133t3!

It was just a passion I had to compete in video games as my heart condition wrecked any chances I had at sports outside of volleyball, which I enjoyed!

I'm no longer as "intense" at video games as I used to be. Old age is catching up with me, I guess. I have difficulties even beat Super Mario Bros 1 and 3, and never beat Super Mario 2 (US let alone lost levels!)

The new and improved King of Lamers 2003!
