SubjectGame music player that does SegaCD PCM? Reply to this message

Apparently the SegaCD was capable of playing back sampled music. I always thought it was just compressed but it turns out those Past music tracks from SonicCD were played back using wave samples and a sampler built into the SegaCD; I had no idea it was actually capable of playing back anything other than FM crap.

I used a tool developed for Snatcher to convert the SonicCD PCM to WAV but it just gives me the samples; I'm guessing there's no player that plays these back as complete songs.

I'd guess until Haze updates his Sega emulator to support Sega CD, it won't happen, other than getting Arbee to write / port code to his emulator, which I doubt is high on his priority list.

I wonder how many SegaCD games even used the PCM sampling for music, two? I guess PCM was mostly used for just sound effects and when they didn't use CD audio they just used the YM2612.
