Another old franchise that came back from the dead. Do we love oldies or not? It still is a 2d sidescroller, I sure will look forward to try it out. Sonic 4 also looks promising, another 2d sidescroller. The gaming industry must feel nostalgic releasing all these, go retro weee

Sparkster looks good. I really love the original, but i'll probably never play the remake. Don't feel like shelling out that much for a newer console.

Rocket Knight looks like it could be nice, but as he said Sonic4 is in episodes. Also knowing those who have tried it the stages are so-so and the control/inertia sucks ass on it copying Sonic on the DS which was terrible. Also while ep1 is 'old school' as they want you to think later versions will add back in all the other annoying little pricks little by little they're letting on. Avoiding it like the plague.

I've heard for a 1P mode it is fine, emulated ok enough, but that it craps out with 2P stuff like to the point in development they removed the 2P mode from Sonic 2 to keep it stable. Otherwise the resolution like a GBA piracy emulator has squashed resolution so nothing is dropped, and I read somewhere the audio was slightly less good but acceptable. The menu is dogshit, and the save anywhere isn't, its save at start of the stage(or act not sure.) If you could bag it for $20 I'd say go, but $30 still seems steep to me. It's a real budget quick and dirty release that just happens to suck a lot less than that hideous Sonic1 anniversary game the GBA got.

IF you don't mind taking 2-3min to skim this, as much as I hate this site they got a better than most write up on the game because it delves into the EMULATION aspect of the game right down to where it's good in bad from pausing, to lack of 'cheat codes' the Genny had and so on. It even mentions where you may get a rare dropped frame or wonky sound effect. Do read, then go for it or not.

Thanks, I read it and found it interesting. I like the PSP Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic 2, on the Sega Collection, so I'll have to think if I want to buy it for the DS.

If I can find it for $20-ish I'd get it but $30 is a bit high for my taste considering I used to own them on Genesis, then had that Sonic Jam for Saturn and later that package that was ok on the GC. With them at $7 a pop on the virtual console, and given the minor issues and the save every act, not everywhere, I think $5/pop vs $7 is fair.
