Apparently something started a fire in my nieghbors yard right by my fence. There were some actelyn tank there and one of them blew up. I went outside to see what the hell was going on. I got the hose and went to put out the fence fire when a big tank blew, threw shrapnel all over my yard and engulfed my porch ina fireball with me standing there. I'm gonna go be sick now. Thanks for letting me vent.

Thier insurance people will be out tomorrow. I need to fix the fence because of the pool, and I'm liable if the neighbor kids go in. The adjuster is coming tomorrow. They are good neighbors and will take care of me. But I'm having a bad panic attack right now, and I'm really sick. I hope I stop puking soon

I'm kidding, you know we care.

Don't sit around alone after this, get some friends over, go out, talk it out, wear the subject down. That'll take most of the edge out of the shock, make it less vivid.
I'm sure you're reliving it in your head every other minute, so vent it out, it'll help.
We're here to help out as we can.

All work and no play makes me..., well, you know the rest.

Good thing you only have a nervous breakdown, which is totally normal in this case. Reminds me of someone at work, he had an incident with his lawnmower, ok this is worst but still he had some shrapnel stuck in his head and the poor guy is off work for a couple of months, this has caused him lots of troubles. Glad to see you got away like this, I mean, shit, that's a huge explosion.

From my perspective it blew. My instinct was to cover and I dropped and balled up. It almost knocked me back into the pool. This is a shot at the fence looking towards the yard.
http://home.comcast.net/~gatchaman/yard.jpg

Imagine me on the hill by that plant pot. My brother was inside calling 911 when it blew. The house shook like a bomb dropped, and my brother said I disappeared in a fire blast that engulfed the patio. If the oxygen tank would have been there and blown too I'd probably be crispy. Had I made it a few yards closer to the fence I would have been standing where the remainer of the tank landed.

Here's what was left of the cart it was on
http://home.comcast.net/~gatchaman/cart.jpg

Flaming pieces of the fence, and two garbage cans were blown to shit. Flaming debree flew all over the yard and on my roof.

After that the adrenalyn pumped so hard my ears hurt, and after we got the fire under control and realized I had a moment to breath I was sick. I had a bad panic attack, and I threw up. Then I had to put up with the fire department telling me I had to fix the fence or get fined by the city because I have a pool. After that I realized I had first degree burns on my hands and arms, I thanked what ever cosmic entity that saved my sorry ass. I was also thankful no one else got hurt, or lost their homes.

So I got to say, no it wasn't like a video game. No game is going to do that to you.

Wasn't trying to make light of it - didn't know that it was so extreme

Like I said, though - stay away from your crazy neighbor's fires! How the fuck could you be liable for having a pool, by the way?

I know you didn't mean anything. I was just saying it's one of those things where the real thing isn't like a video game.

There's a city, county, state ordinance (not sure which) that states you can't have a pool without an enclosed yard. My fence being blown to scrap now violates that ordinace. If the neighborhood kids decide to wander back there, the law makes me liable if anything happens to them, or even if they just get caught back there. (Kalifornia, gotta assume everyone has no common sense and needs protection).

What were the tanks doing there? Part of the normal gas supply?
