I don't follow it much as I gave up meddling with that crap, but I've researched it quite a lot, and as far as what's left of the most modern of cards it's CycloDS and another that slips my mind. The reason being is the Cyclo is the one you want, so I forgot the other as pointless. It's the most painless of the lot, can handle even a DSi, and well does crap like what you said with GBA and stuff.
