Donkey Kong is from 81,

SMB1 is from 85.
Not the character of Mario, like everyone is saying.

However, in Donkey Kong he's just "Jumpman". Instead, "Mario" first appeared in Mario Bros. in 1983 (not Super!).

Who knows, maybe at Ninty they don't like these games :P

I consider it be the same character.
But yeah, even without Donkey Kong, Mario Bros. is older too. So, Nintendo is just trying to cash in on the 25th anniversary of SMB.

That's exactly what it is. They don't celebrate the earlier as 'Super Mario' is their mascot that pioneered them through the world on the NES/Famicom's back. They did a Super Mario 20 celebration to start the crap up 5 years ago with a similar logo so figure every 5 they'll do it again as long as it matters.

I don't consider this anniversary thing "cheating", after all I'm not being sold anything and I'm not obliged to do anything.

I don't find anything wrong companies trying to make money, as long as they have something to offer to consumers, and I would do the same if I run a company :)

Ninty may be greedy at times, but they brought innovation in the gaming world, their games are often very good, so I don't feel like complaining.

Other M is getting harder and harder... but I suspect it's a bit short..

I'd prefer something good to offer to consumer... there's a shitload of shovelware for their consoles, nintendo seal of quality.... yeah more like nintendo seal of quantity
