I haven't modded one recently but when I first did it they required a certain firmware to do it without any extra items. Just look for a guide on modding whatever firmware you have. A pandoras bettery always made things amazing but I assume yours is a PSP-3000... if I am wrong and its a 1000/2000 series then I would recommend buying one of these.

Youtube can probably explain everything better than any post I can make so just search again on youtube for your firmware and see if you can find a good video, most of them have links to the files you need too.
