No way something like that can go for only $0.99. I bought both translation sets @ $4.99 each to support the program.

You want a nice free program then look to Viber. It's basically Skype and the iPhone phone app put together and it runs over 3G. It runs in the background like the iPhone phone app (to use Skype, Skype must be running) and if your friend has it then there's no minutes used at all. I love it as it's saving me $30 a month on my phone bill since I downgraded to less minutes per month.

But around here I don't really care what mexican taggers spray paint on walls. I think it all says they are gay anyway.

So far, my experience with it is far from that demo. It has trouble with a lot of handwritten stuff, as well as thing within the normal office lighting.

Some of the "other language" signs are very odd. I bet they were translated from English, so obviously they translate back well. To be fair, that's pretty positive since sometimes automatic translators mangle the message beyond recognition after a couple of iterations...

Edit: does it just handle spanish? Quite dissapointing for something called "World Lens". Where's the Japanese-English version so we can use it to read fresh manga ?

At this point it only does English-->Spanish and vice versa. They have said they are planning to include other languages though in the future.

At best it seems to translate word for word. I doubt it translates decent grammar, or meaning changes of words mixed together.
Mine often changes the word over and over like it isn't sure, or it switches from one translation, back to english, then to another translation. It's really choppy unlike the demo.
I wouldn't call it a total loss, seeing that you can probably get the point of the sign, if it can make up it's mind. I've spent more on a round of drinks than I have on the 2 translators, but I probably won't get any more. Maybe Japanese for laughs if one comes out
