At best it seems to translate word for word. I doubt it translates decent grammar, or meaning changes of words mixed together. Mine often changes the word over and over like it isn't sure, or it switches from one translation, back to english, then to another translation. It's really choppy unlike the demo. I wouldn't call it a total loss, seeing that you can probably get the point of the sign, if it can make up it's mind. I've spent more on a round of drinks than I have on the 2 translators, but I probably won't get any more. Maybe Japanese for laughs if one comes out
