In case you still use CRAP to play SNES games, you need to get with the times. bsnes is written by an anal retentive programmer (I mean that in a good way) and has been receiving regular updates. There are two versions: the 32bit version is faster but less accurate and the 64bit version that is more accurate but more demanding. I use the 64bit version and get 60FPS steady but I also have an i7-950 @ 4.2GHz. I think with one of the recent updates the 64bit version became less demanding but I'm not sure how low you can go and still have it run good.

Latest version is 074 and because it does low-level emulation of the DSP chips you'll need to find the DSP ROMs and put them in the folder with your game ROMs.

Can get the emulator here.

You can get the other necessary stuff here. I unzip them.

I was wondering where to get the DSP Roms that got dumped.

BSNES is nice, but its a shame its difficult to get binaries, particularly for the 32bit version.

He doesn't always compile versions now, particularly 32bit versions.

Hopefully next year I'll get Windows 7 and then be running 64 bit!

While I have zsnes installed still bsnes I will usually use. I can easily use the 32bit one on my quad core, but since a 64bit os isn't in there I can't go that route with the program. Considering 99%+ runs 100% on it anyway and just a few quirky jap roms don't I don't give an F ya know? My wussy(compared) mini laptop can barely handle bsnes using the speedy core(that's zsnes accurate or a bit more) but it can be a dick with high intensity chipped titles.

I can't recall the last version I grabbed though because I remember he had stopped posting compiled windows builds at some point and I can't compile shit on my end. I have 070 installed.

There is a 32bt version on his site for 0.74, I haven't tried it yet, but I've installed it.

It isn't "full accuracy" but like you I can't compile squat. I think he made a bad decision to stop providing binaries, if he wants gamers to use his emulator, he needs to provide binaries, but its his project and he can do whatever he wants with it.

I don't "Upgrade" every update, unless there is a binary I can use.

Try the 0.73 QT Build.

All you're really missing is the LLE of the ST-0010/0011 chips used in two games. Additionally, the 0.73 version uses the Gambette gameboy emulator for Super Gameboy emulation, instead of Byuu's newer/more incomplete bgameboy.

Any official builds released now are of Byuu's phoenix port which will be very cut down and include only the features necessary for accurate emulation and useful debugging for translation/hack teams.

However, BSNES is by far the best SNES emulator. ZSNES, SNES9x, and the handful of others don't hold a candle to it. It's the best SNES emulation you're going to get on the PC.
