SubjectDumbest fucking thing I've seen Nintendo do. new Reply to this message

I'm playing Donkey Kong Country Returns, it's a pretty fun game but they have a Time Attack mode for each stage. These time attack stages begin with a 3-2-1 countdown and have half-way points so if you die you can continue from the half-way point; if you die before the half-way point they will start you from the beginning but they will dock you a number of seconds depending on how far you were when you died.

Uhh, WHAT!? Instead of just starting you off fresh, they dock you seconds. I've seen up to 30 seconds on my clock starting from the beginning. To start with no time you just have to hit + and select "Retry" from the menu and the stage reloads and you're good to go. This is really fucking annoying if you have to retry often, I just don't understand WTF they were thinking; is some dumbass going to actually let them tack on extra time in A TIME ATTACK MODE!@#?

I would say the wii is probably the dumbest thing nintendo every did. Who the fuck makes a game console that is dated when it is brand new. I miss SNES and N64 back when they were impressive. Other than the two weeks of every wii owner... the wii is another brick that collects dust. I probably play my original nintendo as much as I play my wii (which doesn't say much)

It could get more play and I have a bigger Gamecube library than Wii library. I also don't like the Wiimote and wish more games could use the classic controller, like Metal Slug anthology, but it does help me lose weight on the Wii fit, I like the digital games I own on it even if Nintendo has more draconian DRM than Sony, which is difficult to imagine.

The problem I have is essentially flash games have just about as much substance as any wii game. Also any cross platform game is horrible in comparison to its 360/ps3 equivalent. I recently played NBA Jam on it just to see if it was as good as the old ones I remembered... and, well... after throwing my hand up into the air and flipping my wrist for the 50th time... it got really old. I just think it has lost it's glorious wonder now that kinect/move are out... there is really no need for a wii anymore.

Oh yeah and dual screen handheld was a pretty gimmick as well as 3D on such a small screen. Next thing they could release is virtual boy 2.

I don't buy Wii games for games that are on the 360/PS3. I like the games that are exclusive to the Wii. I have a number of Wii games that are fun, the Neo Geo games, the Data East Collection, and a bunch of Nintendo games like New Super Mario Bros.

I don't see buying a PS3 or a 360 for move or Kinetic. I want a 360 for 360 titles.

I like the DS for RPG games, some emulation, and a few other games, but I prefer the PSP to the DS anyways.

In defense of Nintendo at least they don't install rootkits on your pc as Sony has done in the past with cd's.

Thankfully that has ended, right?

Not that I buy many CDs and its because of that reason.

I'm a "pirate" I buy "used" CDs, which according to the music industry is theft, as well as ripping said CDs to MP3s to play on my "Sony Walkman" MP3 player. Somebody ought to sue Sony for allowing unprotected MP3 files to be played on their MP3 players! Why that's as bad as "modding" consoles you don't own! :P

Impressive, but it isn't tops.

Unless Nintendo can top:
- Allowing anything to be released no matter how buggy or shitty it is (no quality control.)
- Letting third parties to put out B-team bullshit not fit for gaming scaring off their users.
- Giving themselves the freedom to screw you on your Wiiware/VC games not being transferable so you have to buy again.
- Selling the device to be seen as a granny toy scaring off more users yet

I'd put it high on the list, but those there scared off most people who gave a shit about it, and people like me are too so far gone on it it's hard to enjoy the few good things that still come out because if you got more than Wii you know how bad you got it. :\
