Well a perfect case of another reason to add to why I don't bother buying high end video cards and shit anymore to do PC gaming. If keeping up with the parts and the using people as pay to play beta testers for the lazy assholes wasn't bad enough -- this is. Personally, if the guy had a brain, he'd start hunting down a greedy as shit lawyer willing to fire up a bunch of angry nerds into a class action lawsuit over it. Terms of the game are not tied to terms of the message board. Buying anything gaming means you're stuck (which should be made illegal too or make that for all products) as you can't return stuff if it's open. So you buy a game, get banned (temp or fully) on that board, and you're shit out of luck on having a $50 drink coaster and a box. What if someone is being a twat from your IP area, EA bans it, and then suddenly say 100 people can't login to play that game...they sure won't give a shit as they got your trapped money because you opened the box.
If they started doing this shit on consoles I'd start waiting to find out if X game had these potential issues and I'd refuse to buy it permanently, or until a retraction of the policy was made. I may not steal shit, but if someone in my area does on the same IP range then I could be SOL too by proxy.
