SubjectGraphics software help pls Reply to this message

I'm looking for a program that will either autocrop and image for me or easily allow me to manually crop an image like a picture of someone's head. I'd like to crop the picture to get their head and hair and nothing else.

Any ideas what to use? I'd rather not have to get into using Photoshop. There was a program I downloaded some time ago that analyzed an image, then broke it up into a series of polygons. The polygons were based on what was in the image, and they were relatively easy to select with a mouse.

GIMP with the magic wand tool is pretty easy and free.

There's a lot of features and functions that will seem pretty obtuse if you come from a Photoshop-only background, but it's a remarkably powerful package that'll treat you right if you give it a chance.

GIMPshop was a neat idea, but it's a damn shame it didn't continue to receive proper support or updates.

Completely agree. GIMPshop was the shit. My biggest issue with GIMP is that I have always came from photoshop... There are some very nice tools for exactly what itchy is wanting to do in photoshop that I don't think GIMP has, like the magic eraser.

I normally use this program.

It has less features than Photoshop or GIMP, but it's free more than enough for what I need to do with pictures. And trivial to pick up.

There's a "Magic Wand" tool although you will need to play a bit with the tolerance to find your ideal sweet spot (default is 50% I think which is a bit too aggressive).
