I have a PC with a q6600 and 4gb of ram. Both are pretty cheap now. I believe the motherboard went out on it after troubleshooting with EVGA for a bit. A new board/powersupply will cost like 100-150 bucks. All I used it for was a frontend/xbmc on my tv. The shit is humungous (case) and loud. For 250-300 I can just get a small dual core atom/ion box that does it all and would be completely quite.

What do you guys do with your old pc stuff? right now I am thinking I should just call it quits and not even bother trying to revive the old hardware.

I already donated 2 or 3 monitors (CRTs) and 2 CPUs.

The last one is being used as firewall here at home, running pfsense to distribute net connection to other 2 computers. But it will go to charity once i get a decent router.

Prior to that I took one out to the boondocks and unloaded 12ga slugs on a tower. An ex demanded I fix it and give it to her. I fixed it alright but there wasn't really anything left to give to her.

Now that I can say I shot one up once, I get them running the best I can and donate them to a school. You shouldn't have trouble finding a charity that will even take it broken and try to fix it themselves.
