Now what do I do?

What NewsReader are you using? I suggest Forté Agent (http://www.forteinc.com/)

Then go into Tools > Newsgroup Directory. Search for a word that may show up in the name of a newsgroup. You can subscribe to groups from there. Then with the Newsgroup select in the main menu, go to Actions > Get Headers > Get All Headers to pull up all the posts. Double Click a post to read it, Hit "A" on the keyboard to save the attachment.

I haven't tried their reader but you can get it for free with your subscription (http://www.newshosting.com/en/newshosting-usenet-browser.php)

I use newshosting.com (have for probably 7 years now) and love them. I also use www.newsleecher.com for it's super search feature to just "google" anything I want. You can also go to sites like nzbmatrix.com and use it as a somewhat variant of piratebay (for newsgroups) and get nzb files (like torrents... they just point to the posts to download). Download away and unrar/par everything.

Newsleecher has a couple nice download features that will warn if the files are rar in rars or passworded rars so you don't waste your time downloading crap sometimes.

They had a deal with unlimited downloading and connections for a year for $99 (for a year). Newshosting has their own browser, but I went with Newsleecher + Supersearch for a year as well. Considering how much I download usually via HTTP sites, this isn't bad.

Now, what in the hell do I do with Newsleecher? First thing to change was Max Days from 7 to something higher. I went and changed the download directory too. Hehe I then did a search for "swing dance" just to see what it returned.

Does Newsleecher search the entire newsgroup by default, or do you tick a box somewhere to tell it to do this?

With newsleecher you use the super search tab and it does a search of all the groups for like 2000 days (maybe longer) and returns a result. You can then use the filter box to take out results you don't want (just like google)... so "mp3" will show only posts with mp3 in the name, while "-mp3" will remove anything with mp3 in the name. What I typically do if I am not using nzbmatrix is search for something like "skyward sword" then filter it with "NTSC Wii iso" or something to make it show what I want... or the release group that I am looking for. Half the time I use it just to find something I saw on a private torrent site... so I would use supersearch and find the exact thing by searching "name.of.game.format.groupname" and it gives a nice result.

Newsleecher will also auto monitor/repair/extract your rars and put them in folders if you want it to. It is a nice one stop shop for everything. I pay the 3 bucks a month for the license to always have supersearch.

Newzbin is probably one of the better clients; I think you can buy it once and get free updates for life but I've been punishing myself with GrabIt, which gets the job done.

I use binsearch.info to search for stuff and then create an NZB file (associate it with your client) to download what I want. Makes it super easy to update ROM sets.
