Well I know the map data is all local, as I lagged out a bit the other day and was able to explore the whole area without a connection. One thing to check is make sure you have port forwarding or no restrictions on 1119 UDP/TCP (not sure which, so just do both) as that is the game clients port.

Message me your bnet name/email if you want, I am still playing... as many people bitch about the game, I feel it is a nice time waster that requires no additional cash after the purchase. Will most likely be playing it for years to come... oh and the fact that I bought my wife and son a copy too lol.
