I would like to stream some game playing and i'm lacking a capture card..

i tried twitch.tv adobe media encoder + manycam, but dear god, the thing goes at 4fps when running alongside kegafusion.


the old livestream.com app was great, but it's defunctional now and you have to pay to use livestream?


So, any god way to stream my desktop gaming live to the interwebs?

First I can think of a webcam.
For a live feed you will be constrained by your upload bandwidth anyway,
so the loss of image with a cam shouldn't be too much of a problem?

Alternatively, with a bit more hardware, you could output a video signal from your first PC (a clone of the main display),
and capture the video on a second PC. Slightly more expensive but will give you better image quality.

It's not necessarily expensive if you already have some old hardware lying around.
The second PC doesn't need to be very powerful in fact.
It only needs to have decent capture hardware and a good upload bandwidth.
If you don't have a webcam, it should be possible to get a digital camera running as one (controlled from the PC).

Because, well, i have no need for more than a desktop.
So, i built a decent (when it was new) machine, which i believed it was enough to stream itself.

My upwards bandwidth is 1.5mbits (and 15mbits of downstream).

So, i guess i'm screwed.. lol.

How about a webcam on the same PC then?
Or, try using a much lower resolution to see if you get better FPS.

The problem is live streaming. Even with a powerful PC, I'm not sure there is free software that would capture the Direct3D output fast enough and then send over the internet.

If you just want to capture your game to stream later, there is FRAPS.
Not sure how much you can do with the free version but I guess worth a try.

One more thing: depending on your intended audience and game,
you might be able to use in-game streaming.
This is simpler because you don't send the video, just game data.
