Finally got this book in the mail today. Was really excited about the Kickstarter when it started up, but with all of the drama surrounding it and the unwatchable double DVD set that shipped a few months ago (seriously, I've never seen such poor editing or camera work outside of a summer school videography class for pre-teens), I've really tempered my expectations and accepted that perhaps not only did we all backed the wrong pony for the race and that the dude was not only horribly ill equipped to tackle the project, but that he completely torpedoed any chance of a more capable person from accomplishing it in the future.

I'll slowly flip through the book over the coming weeks, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I have "The Ultimate History of Video Games: from Pong to Pokemon" from Steven Kent and it's very good; then a few other books of varying quality.

To be fair there's a lot of interesting stuff online too, like this History of Korean gaming.
If the book has a good reference list (URLs, etc) then it might be worth it for that.
