I don't really have the desire to play my old favorites but watching it played live is a blast. If you've seen my posts in the FB group, I try to share the marathons and events as they appear. It's amazing some of the real in-game glitches people find/exploit in their speed runs. This dude beats Super Mario World in less than five minutes. Cosmo's commentated 18 minute run Zelda: OoT is pretty rad too.

In any case, yeehaw to live retrogaming. If you've generally lost interest in the emulation scene, you can go enjoy the retro scene cuz it's alive and well in twitch!

I loved AGDQ, but I generally can't get down with just watching people play stuff when I could just as easily be slowly putting a dent in the ol' backlog (just cleared Far Cry Classic out of the queue this evening!)

but holy shit, AGDQ? I had that streaming to the living room TV and while I had intended to only watch one or two runs, I wound up vegging out for hours and hours on end.

The Zelda II no% run was crazy to see live, even if it ended in accidental failure. Glad I tuned in for it.

OTOH, I was pretty disappointed by the savescumming in Descent. :(

As a kid with nothing better to do, I figured out how to beat it pretty quickly - maybe in half an hour or so.

One time I played it on a demo unit in the mall and left it at the "game over" screen. :-)

But the crown of easy wins goes to TMNT4, which I switched off after 45 minutes just before the final boss in disgust - I didn't want to finish it the same day I bought it (full price!). Still a great game that I've replayed a lot, mind you.
