Rising Sun is a piece of shit, but it's better than Frontline.

European Assault is a crazy leap forward in quality over Rising Sun and does a bunch of super interesting stuff for the time period and franchise. It's not always successful, but it's notable for being a real solid stab at evolving the formula in a unique way and attempting to carve out its own identity.

It's actually getting me excited to play Pacific Assault.

Pacific Assault actually was a pretty solid game. It also wa a whore on the PC and not friendly with newer OSes and other junk. I've seen it used lying around for a buck or two in the last couple of years but I won't buy it as it won't play nice. If they ever add that to GoG.com fixed like they did with Allied Assault I'm buying it.

I miss WW2 shooters, they're far more fun, imaginative, and take you to a real time period albeit with a unique story or playing an angle off an existing one (easy company-call of duty 1.)

I had to get that Wolfenstein game a year ago just to remind me why FPS games can still be fun because modern COD and MoH are fucking annoying and stuff like Halo is complete shit. I'm sick of the me too garbage. Sure there were plenty of WW2 shooters in the earlier previous decade but so much was never tapped or barely.
