I got tired of the only videos of the 1995 Into the Shadows demoloop on Youtube being ultra low res encodes...the demo ran letterboxed in a 320x200 display and didn't play very well with video encoders...so last night I finally said "Fuck it", captured it at 1920x1080, cropped it down, and used waaaaay too high of a bitrate in an attempt to preserve every massive fucking pixel.

so now that's on YouTube where I fully expect it to get dozen (or maybe even hundreds!) of hits over the next decade. Sort of thinking of recapturing the whole thing using FRAPS so that I can get the title cards and such, but unfortunately I don't think anyone really cares enough to notice their omission.

It's funny, because the later demo was totally the talk of E3 96 and now it's some obscure forgotten canceled game. Wish the E3 96 demo would leak out on the net...even if the gameplay was as rough around the edges as everyone reported it as being, I'd love to see the visual improvements.

I feel ya, there's a lot of footage from old games at murky quality out there, so it feels like a public service to recapture it :-)

Seeing the video I can't help but think how far we've progressed since then. It feels they're mostly showing off motion capture tech, which today we take for granted!
