W.T.F.

As somebody who has followed emulation since when nes emus were first coming out in the mid 90s, this blows my mind. I'm having trouble comprehending how they took a 3 core, 3ghz power pc cpu and are emulating it on what has been derisively referred to as a 8 core x86 netbook cpu.

The emulation seems pretty solid from initial reports, especially when you compare it to the clunky, buggy mess that was OG Xbox emulation on 360.

So would it be possible to port this emulator to windows? How did they even achieve this? Would love to hear what some emu authors think about this.

Basically they don't emulate the old hardware, but instead they make the game libraries compatible with the newer one. I guess a lot of it probably uses DirectX anyway...

Bonus to not using accurate emulation: games that were hardware limited in the past now run smoother and load quicker. Mass Effect reportedly has significantly less slowdown and pop up along with much quicker load times. Looking forward to seeing how Last Remnant runs once it gets supported.

The one thing I want from this more than anything else is full compatibility with the XBLA library. There are way too many great games exclusive to that platform and if Xbox emulation is anything to go by, it'll be decades before we see any real progress in preserving them. Then again, maybe Xenia will have some major breakthroughs over the next few years as contributors flock to support it?

Not holding my breath :(

Probably similar to the PC version :-P

Never looked into them, are they at least being dumped so you can reinstall them into an "unlocked" console? Otherwise it's going to be hard to preserve them at all...
