Well seeing as Hippie Chick has fallen straight off the edge of the Earth I don't think she's going to get her hub back up anytime soon. I mean no disrespect and I'm grateful for the long period of time that she hosted it. But now we gotta move onto another hub for obvious reasons (like HAVING A HUB! =P)

If anyone would like to create a dedicated public hub for us then by all means reply to this thread with your interest. For now Lord Ashram has a private hub for most regulars to join. If you're a lurker or a bitch you're going to have a hard time gaining admittance. If you can find some other way to entertain him then perhaps he will consider you. DO NOT PM HIM ASKING FOR ENTRANCE. Ask for it here on the forums where it won't clutter his inbox.

I was wondering what you need specifically to keep the hub operating, what type of internet connection and whatnot, otherwise I don't have a problem with the whole ordeal of hosting (asides from the fact that I might be changing my ISP).

AFAIK all you need is a decent connection ( at least dsl or cable ) on your 'puter running 24/7.

all you need is the following:

NEEDED:
1) install direct connect (even if you use dc++ you must have dc for the hub server software)

2) the hub server software, both of which you can get here

3) a fulltime connecton like cable/dsl/t1/....

RECOMENDED EXTRA'S:
1) a good firewall softwall (zone alarm or sygate are recomendations unless you are running it with linux)

2) a separate computer dedicated to just servering

3) an os that you don't have to shutdown 9037459073 times a day. so use 2k/xp or linux with wine


actually setting up the hub is really fucking easy. i had mine up and running with in a minute or two the very first time i tried.
