does anyone know of a way to convert SID to MP3 without bloating? i mean, i used SidAmp and DiskWriter Out to make it a WAV and thenconverted it to XVBR in AudioCatalyst, but now it's huge...anyone know how to prevent that?

mp3 will be bigger than the sids..
unless you use some shitty bitrate.. which might works..
i guess that mp3'ed sids doesnt have to go up than 112kb/s, but i might be mistaken..

i mean.. a 8mb card could take up a few songs.. ;).

but i would really really go for a portable spc player. imagine that.. hearing the original sf2 tunes on the bus.. with digital quality.. haw!!

well.. at least we can burn those tunes to a cd... along with some remixes of the same ones.. :)

First of all, drop SidAmp. Use SIDPlay2/Win to render your SIDs to very accurate WAVs on your hard disk. Then, grab the latest LAME+RazorLame to convert them to MP3s. The good thing is that RazorLame has a lot of nice presets, so you can decide whatever quality/size ratio you prefer.

I think that all this is much more CPU-demanding than what you did before, but SidAmp and AudioCatalyst are not very accurate - or, if you prefer, the SIDs and the MP3s just sound bad.

My 2 cents, eh.
