SubjectController problems w/ emulators Reply to this message

All the NES emulators I've tried only allow users to set buttons for left, right, up, and down on the directional pad. My Microsoft Sidewinder Plug & Play controller actually has 8 positions when I move it in a circle, so when I press any of the diagonals (i.e. up/left, up/right, down/right, or down/left), the emulator does not recognize those positions and nothing happens. So it's like the diagonal directions are dead spots. With the original NES controller, players could press both up and right (for example) at the same time, but my Microsoft controller does not allow this because of its additional 4 directional positions.

Does anyone know how to fix this, or can anyone recommend a better controller that would not have this problem? Thanks!

>Get the cheapest piece Wal-Mart has to offer. Preferrably an old 6 button. The older the better- no USB if at all possible. Sounds bad.. but these $6.99 jobs seem to be well suited for the app.
