Gens has too many little things that are annoying, especially the resolution/bit depth switching.

Are you talking about the latest version? V211? I don't think so. 32X emulation and Sega CD emulation is way better in Gens. I have never seen those issues you are referring too. Gens is tops by far for compatibility and I have tried EVERY rom and OWN every game that was ever made for Sega Genesis, Megadrive, 32X, SegaCD, etc. LOL.

Steve Snake worked together with the author of GenS. As another owner of a Real Genesis, and user of both emus, Kega has a little extra edge now.

I suggest you try the latest version and come back again with your review =)

RELAX and just have fun.
Remember, it's all about the games.

Sega hired Steve to port Kega to the Dreamcast. I think that says something as well ;).

On the other hand, Real Networks hired the author of Gens for their Real Arcade.

There's a few issues I found a little bit annoying (only a tiny bit though) in Gens - such as the way it seems to init the screen twice for some reason... it's a great emu though.

But, Kega is obscenely accurate when it comes to Genesis emulation. Little details in the YM2612 have really been ironed out by Steve. Look at certain sound effects (Sonic 1 going past the end flag) and certain pieces of music (Thunderforce IV) for examples.

It's close, but Kega just pips Gens these days.

On the other hand though, Gens is better because it has source code and so you can get ports to the Xbox!

You own every Sega 16 bit game ever? I somehow doubt it.

If you did, you'd try an Acclaim 32x game and notice it doesn't work. Or you'd try a Sega CD 32x game and notice it doesn't work. Etc etc etc.
