I'm having a problem with a lunar rom. When I open a save or inventory screen a darkened background appears behind the Inventory/Save screen and in front of the actual game. When I exit the inventory/save screen the darkened background persists, causing vision problems.

I am using the ePSXe emulator.
Video - Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.75
Sound - ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2
CDrom - ePSXe CDR WNt/W2K core 1.5.2
Bios - bios\SCPH1001.bin

If anyone can help, I'd be much obliged.

edit: Note, this is not the black screen problem, I have dealed with that on the video configuration, this is just things like deep fog in the forest and the like.
