SubjectProblems with Gens 2.11 on Athlon CPU new Reply to this message

Hi all,

I'm posting to this forum I've been experiencing problems with Gens 2.11 on my machine, and I was wondering if someone might be able to give me a hand... Here's what Gens does on my machine: It starts up, then for some reason the program hangs before it gets a chance to display any graphics on the window. It has been happening to me ever since I switched to my new PC (from my trusty old Pentium 3 box)

Is anyone experiencing this type of situation with Gens? Does anyone know how it can be fixed? I've attached my current system's specs, hopefully that helps:

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ @ 2.066 GHz
ABIT NF7-S 2.0 Mobo
Corsair XMS 512Mb PC3200 (2-3-3-6)
Radeon 9600 Pro (Catalyst 5.6)(DirectX 9.0c)
ATI TV Wonder VE + Latest Drivers
Soundblaster Audigy MP3+
Windows 2000 SP4 + All Updates

If you need any other spec. that I might have missed, post it and I'll reply ASAP.

Thank you very much,

X-calibur

Maybe something with GFX Card/Drivers. Try to set the desktop depth to 16 bits maybe that fixes it... But its just a guess.

It's the nForce IDE drivers.

For some reason I recall them conflicting with ASPI (just with Gens)... and removing either fixing the problem.

And as ASPI is fairly necessary for burning and such, and Microsoft's IDE drivers work just as well as nForce's, I chose ASPI first.

Either way that's 99% likely to be it. The nForce drivers let you choose whether or not to install the IDE drivers, but I'm not sure how to remove only them.

Good luck, this same problem bugged the crap out of me as well.

As an alternative, try Kega Fusion. AFAIK it's now better than Gens.
