I tried to run Riviera on Visual Boy Advance and wasn't having any luck. I would get the Nintendo splash screen, then a screen that said licensed by Nintendo, then a black screen with some horrible screeching noise.

Much to my suprise, I ended up with similiar results when I flashed the rom to my EFA 512mbit cart. I saw the licensed by Nintendo screen, then a black screen, but no noise.

I went back and played around with my VBA settings, specificly the bios ones. I found that not using the Nintendo bios and using VBA's own emulated bios got the game running just fine. I'm a bit curious as to why this is. It seems strange to me that using the actual Nintendo bios would cause problems.

It runs fine in VBA untill you reach Akuma, then it crashs. I flash it to my 256mb XG2 and it still happens on my real GBA. Its not a corrupt rom cause ive tried every region and it still happens.

and it does the same thing. I don't know how the game testers could've missed these bugs. Not to mention a whole lot more bugs in the game too. Too bad, cause it's actually plays real well.

The japanese version of the game should work fine; the game won't crash when you reach Akuma.

It could be because the rom has been editted, or it could be protected related.
