Long time ago I had the information of how to get my nvidia card to properly display the 384×224 resolution by adding or changing some registry values.

Anyone have this information?

With the new Forceware drivers (since 53.03 IIRC) you can add custom resolutions directly from the control panel, and they become available instantly.

You have to add the modes to nv4_disp.inf before installing the drivers. Thats the only way to get lo-res modes with semi modern driver rev. Problem is not all driver revs generate the modes properly the last version i used that works is 61.76.

I've tested the following modes others may or may not work:

240x224 240x240 256x224 256x256 284x240 288x224 292x240 304x224 304x240 320x200 320x224 320x240 320x256 336x240 384x224 384x240 384x256 400x256 416x224 416x320 480x480 496x384 576x432

BTW: the registry change only worked on 3x.xx, series drivers AFAIK.

You're right, but that is way too much work IMHO.

It's possible to add 768x448@60Hz in the driver control panel (I just have) - MAME will use that and just double the resolution of the game natively. Even without scanlines, d3d and any of the other fancy stuff. And on the auto resolution setting too.

If it doesn't work because your monitor goes into standby, delete it and make it a 120Hz mode instead, or activate 'use double scan for low resolutions' (or something). 120Hz is much easier on the eye too. Mame will still auto pick it.

Try 120Hz instead of 60. Delete the 60Hz mode before you add the new one otherwise MAME will keep picking the 60Hz mode that doesn't work.

Not much work really you add the the modes to one line in the .inf using the same format i posted. It's a simple cut-n-paste job.

The refresh rate overrides can be used as an alternative.
