Given the pic in place at his site, it was all a ruse to get people to go there, thus generating clickthrough revenue so he could buy a new Ram stick. :-)

But who knows, these crazy devs and insiders have just too much time in their hands apparently.

Surely a troll/flame-bait, completely unrelated to the thread.
Surely worthy of a ban?

Or is that a pic of a CPS2 SIMM?

Did that newpost say Jan 2, 2004 previously? If so, nice one. Thats better than an April Fools Joke.

Interesting conspiracy.... I wonder if we will ever know what happened. Stupid Emu politics. All i know is I get to play Progear now :P

> Or is that a pic of a CPS2 SIMM?

yes, obviously! It's from Puzz Loop 2.

btw, yes, it was the same dump that has existed for a long time, it takes many, many hours to dump a SIMM and put it back together (it's not a fun job, I know, I dumped some CPS3 SIMMS, they're identical but obviously hold different data), so there's no way it was a new dump. There's also mention (by Raz) of a 2nd and 3rd dumper. The 2nd dumper would also not release his dump according to Raz. I'm finding it extremely difficult to comprehend that there is a 2nd and 3rd dumper who has the capability to dump surface-mounted ROMs, let alone CPS2 SIMMs. The 3rd dumper will apparently 'release' it, but including a 'polital readme'. Of course, Raz just types it up and releases it to usenet. It's merely an exotic way of shifting the blame from Raz to someone else. Raz had the dump of the SIMMs all the time and released them using an alias. It's just more lies and propaganda from cps2shock.

Yep, it's a SIMM from the Puzz Loop 2 board that Smitty donated. The point being that Raz publicly said on this forum that I had no idea what a SIMM looked like. He is obviously incorrect.

like I said, it PAYS to read the fine print. Everyone was so busy with their heads up their asses they forgot to look at the DATE. It's so funny to see kiddies squirming like this, it was pure poetry :D

Or to get the Puzzloop 2 board? That wasn't clear to me.

If it was to fuck Raz over, you shouldn't have had to go to so much trouble, fucking over Raz is easy. :-)

BTW, kudos to you sir, i do appreciate a good deceptive comic plot, even if i'm deceived myself.

Surely no more childish than the joke itself.

That's what makes them both so funny.

I have had the Puzz Loop 2 board for a while. Smitty donated it.

Ok fine, but for the record, you CAN dump CPS2 SIMMs, right? We wont go through the same problems for Puzzle Loop 2 and potentially other new? CPS2 games. (assuming Raz releases the XORS)

> Ok fine, but for the record, you CAN dump CPS2 SIMMs, right?

The actual flashROMs used on the SIMMs are the same type (exactly) as used in many other games like Namco System 11/12 and others (which of course I've dumped many of)
The SIMMs themselves are simply flashROM-holders, they are a medium to route the legs of the flashROMs to the sockets that exist on the B-board, that's all.
They're no more complex than any other smt dump.

On your other question, the XOR's have not been created yet AFAIK.

You never had the bloddy Pro Gear board everyone was making a fuss about you selling to begin with and used that as a ruse for xacrow or whoever had another set to release them?

Not sure if all that trouble was worth it, but getting Raz fucked is always a hoot. :-)

I dunno if I agree that the ends justify the means... Manipulating people and causing controversy about a mediocre game? I'll be glad when the CPS2 games are all emulated, CPS2 is nearly getting as bad as Neo Geo emulation. I shudder to think about Naomi / Atomisware emulation, that'll be worse...
I'm glad I own a Deadcast 'er Dreamcast!

The game doesn't come into it. Look at MAME... there's hundreds of crap games emulated, some of them I've dumped.

This sounds really cunning, but I don't yet know the start of the story... can you take me through it from the start? Raz had something you wanted... what was it?

I have to totally agree with Techrat on this point. From an outsiders point of view (from a pcb donor and dumping projector contributor), navigating a messy situation is going to affect your credibility. Anything that affects one's credibility is going to have inadvertent negative repercussions.

A lot of disparaging comments were made about Mame leadership/practices, and since deceit is deemed justifiable (though the person may have deserved it), one could POSSIBLY begin to wonder, for example, if any of these comments had any possible grain of truth. Saying that, I DOUBT it, since no one can question Guru's commitment to the emulation community, but people MIGHT start wondering. The attitude is it's ok to be deceptive since the opposition acts that way.

I defintely continue to be a Mame supporter, but this whole issue leaves me wondering if it was really worth all the negativity to claim this victory.
