There's been no activity on Supermodel for the better part of a year now. We did start a dynamic recompiling PPC core but that's gone into limbo, too, apparently. Maybe Stefano is still working on it.
I'd like to get that done and rewrite the entire emulator to get it closer to playable speeds and usability. It's unlikely I'll have time until summer but who knows?

I don't use MAME much and I haven't tried its Model 3 emulation but I hear it's faster. Supermodel really gives your graphics card a thrashing with all the state changes which happens to drastically slow things down.
We wanted to optimize it by caching the models and sorting polygons to minimize state changes but that seems unfeasible. The Model 3 uses lots of per-polygon attributes and this wreaks havoc on performance in OpenGL and Direct3D.

It's unclear at this point. It probably won't be released but I'd like to pick it up again at some point and rewrite it. All we really need is to finish the dynarec and rework the rendering code.
