As I recall, Elsemi put something in to the emulator at one point that hid the polygons that were being drawn wrongly by ATI cards. It wasn't a perfect solution, since stuff was still being skipped that was handled correctly by nvidia cards, but it at least made the games playable on ATI cards. I assume that's still the case with the latest version (but I couldn't say for sure, since I'd already got rid of my ATI card by that point.)
