SubjectQuestion about Jumpman / Applewin new Reply to this message

When I try to play Jumpman on Applewin, the joystick *Sidewinder Gameport* is incorrectly calibrated. It only moves down and to the right. Is there a way to calibrate the joystick? I don't have this problem with other games *Cannonball Blitz, Mario Bros, MS Pac Man*...

There is no way to calibrate the joystick in jumpman. I'm not sure this is an emulation error, have you tried it with other emulators? I tested it with MESS and the same error occurs. Could just be a bad dump/crack.

I hope it was a 'bad dump' and not just 'unplayable.'
It's strange other games play fine with the controller...
Thanks for the feedback...

Anyway, if you just want to play Jumpman then you could always play one of the other ports for Atari or C64, or you could try the wonderful remake for the PC called Jumpman Under Construction. Wonderful because the game itself is practically untouched and you can even make your own levels ("Under Construction" - Get it?). Randy Glover himself has even given his full blessing on this one and created some new levels.

Or, you could try Jumpman Zero which is a semi-3D remake. Completely new levels but still very good.

Anyway here's a link to the Jumpman Lounge's resource page, with link to probably any version imaginable...

I would suspect an emulation issue, but it could be a bad dump. You have no way of knowing until the issue is sorted.

I played Jumpman on an Apple II back in the day, and I
could never find a way to calibrate the damn thing then.

It's a problem with the program.

Jumpman works with KEGS so this must be an emulation issue. Dig Em has the same problem in MESS as well.

I figured out how to get this to work in MESS. You have to adjust the analog control sensitivity down to about 50% (make sure to set both X and Y)
