Fun... yet still broke with just the FX timing. Starfox is back to flickers, but no lockups. When the flicker left, then it froze like mad. Just can't win. :\

Before they ran too damn fast and smooth, and recordings of them were all messed up. I'd like to capture some actual Starfox 2 gameplay videos at some point (Starfox isn't a problem since I have the Japanese and US Carts and can just cap off the SVideo, but Starfox 2 obviously is a problem :( )

As a bonus laugh, every now and then i boot up Vortex. I remember buying this piece of shit :(

Hehe I bought Vortex in box for $5 used on a whim. For $5 that's good, but if someone paid more than say $20 for ITS era they got dicked. one of the 3 flight modes was basically unusable.

As far as SF1 and 2 on S9X, same...still overly speedy ,but in the case of SF2 at least it's able to be finished w/out screen flicker.

programm an eeprom with starfox2 and stick it into a starfox cart :-) has been done, seems to work

Actually you're a lil off, that won't work.

Starfox1 is a FX 1 chip at 10.5mhz, the Starfox2 game uses the FX2 at 21mhz, but actually a PAIR of them. The ONLY game that does that released is Yoshi's Island. You'd need to desolder the game rom, flash starfox2 onto a rom, reattach that to the Yoshi board w/dual FX2's and you're set. A guy at the Advanced Media Network I do some stuff on made his own that way.

and I've actually considered it just so that i could see how the game reacts on the real hardware as opposed to in emulation. Seems like a little too much effort since I strongly doubt it'd be worth the effort.

Being a SNES nut, this is quite intriguing. Anyone know any reason why Yoshi's Island needed 2 SFX-2 chips? I know it used the SFX-2 for sprite scaling and some effects, however, it didn't seem to be one of the games that really stressed the chips (it was the 1st SFX-2 game that was playably emulated). Anyone got any info?
