Please remove this post:

'ThderMAME32jp VER.0.68_X'

The said build is an illegal build of Mame and due to an increase in dumb questions surrounding such builds I'm currently trying to get rid of as many of them as possible. Posting them on the front page isn't helping matters.

Don't tell the news staff what to do. Any build of mame in some way is in someones book somewhere considered 'illegal.' Do you have any actual evidence proving this build is actually illegal? Does it have any ROMS with it? Any copyrighted source, XORs, or anything else? If not, grow up and deal with it. Sound as bad as that asswipe sending out C&D letters to MAME build makers claiming he owns a trademark he does not.

Except we own the copyright to Mame and the said build makes modifications we don't approve of. There currently seems to be a rising problem with these Illegal builds so I'm doing something about it.

Seriously, it's about time someone took action on these devious builds. I agree with all of you points as to why they need to be removed. Don't let a few nay sayers interfere with your crusade.

Or maybe just remove the source, huh, tiger?

Considering you blow off companies like Nintendo who hate emulation while at the same time expecting people to respect your IP, that's funny and hypocritical!
I can see now that all dev time will go to shutting down 'illegal' MAME builds and EBAY sales and little time will go into preserving games...
Every time I think MAME DEVs can't get any sillier/hypocritical they redefine themselves...That was a good laugh, Thanks Haze...

You purchased the legitimate copyright for MAME in the USA? Since I'm not much up on searching that website could you like me a copy of that as I'd love to see proof of the copyright. Saying it, writing (C) on it is one thing, but actually having a legally legit copyright then does give you that right.

Please do show me.

seriously. sucks that people still email about non official builds, but whenever source code is made available, you're going to have derivatives (especially with something like mame.) would be nice if people who did these builds would stick a disclaimer in there saying that the build was unofficial and not to bother emailing anyone on the mame team about problems with the emu (or where to get roms, etc.)

Better than copyright, trademark. It's serial #78578919 - go to www.uspto.gov and do a search by serial number.

Emulation's growing up - don't be left behind.

You realise, that thanks to the Berne Convention, the author implicitly and automatically owns the copyright?
And therefore any contributor to MAME retains their copyright of their code and can therefore enforce that Copyright? And without operating within the bounds of the MAME License you are committing Copyright Infringement?

Yeah and what's this about purchasing copyright in the US ?
MAME is an international project AND MAME's authors retain copyright (this means they can tell people what they can and cannot copy and under which terms, for the slow people here) on their, admittedly available, code.
The reply was the usual shit-stirring from this poster and I find it pretty stupid to troll Haze because he's asking a favor from a newsposter on a mame-friendly site.
Whatever.

Stupid e-mails will persist regardless of what builds are out there, that's a moot point.

For Haze to ask to have evil builds removed from the news site is absurd as well. What would be the point? To not get as many e-mails about evil builds? Forum posts? I hate to break it to ya, but that's just not going to change. Or is it just Haze whining?

I tend to think more of the latter, the funny part is - all you have to do is remove the source.

Whee!!! Let's control everyone who uses the Intronet!

The less you advertize them, the less they will be downloaded. It isn't that hard to understand, isn't it ?

You are kidding, right? Trademark only applies in the USA, while copyright applies in whole world.

Yeah, but he effectively trolled the bejesus out of Paratech, and that's *always* worthwhile. I don't think I've ever seen him come completely apart like that before :-)

I said Haze was acting silly and that 'you guys' are going to be spending more time 'persecting' EVILMAME compilers / ROM/Sellers than working on MAME.
It'll be gayer than Tootsie and Mrs. Doubtfire combined...
All I need is some popcorn to munch on while watching this fiasco...

But I can't do Futurama. It is my humble belief that everyone should have a copy of Max Max in their collection.

On a sidenote, i just realized that copy of Wild Things I picked up last weekend for $5 was the fullscreen copy. KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN

I was looking at the special edition of Star Trek 2 the other day, but didn't get it.

Pick something off my list, I'll trade you something for Max Max.

I do think it's funny that there are people trying to make a name for themselves off the back of MAME. There are systems that can or have been emulated now that aren't going to see the light of day for a while because the user base can't act mature.
