hi!

i wonder, if the cps-1 games actually have a 4:3 screen ratio...
because when i start sf2 in mame32fx with "match screen resolution" the fighters look very fat! and i dont remember from the arcades that this was supposed to be so!!!

so, does anyone know what screen ratio cps-1 games like sf2 have??

The aspect ratio is 4:3. If you have a standard monitor, it should fill the screen completely.

Use MAME32 Plus! and put D3D on. put the Bilinear to none and effect to none and stretch using hardware should do it.

Yeah, you have to a "stretch to fit monitor" or "fill screen" option. (granted you don't have a widescreen monitor, of course).

i have a widescreen tv and a widescreen laptop as well as dual 19" 4:3 monitors, and when i fit to the screen on 16:9 it doesnt seem out of shape, seems ok to me and i'm usually quite touchy on aspect ratios

Then you should set the screen aspect ratio to 16:9 in MAME and it will compensate by adding black borders.

You're nuts then.

I've seen a few wide screen cabs with cps2 games in. They don't look too bad, in the same way as you get used to watching 4:3 tv broadcasts stretched out.
