SubjectMAME 32 SHUTS DOWN PC Reply to this message

Hi, I'd need some help with this: I've been using Mame32 (0.78 installed) for quite a long time, but for an unknown reason, when I start using it everything works fine, but once 5 minutes -more or less- have passed, my PC shuts down, That's, it not even a classic reboot, just dead. It doesn't happen with other applications. I've reinstalled DirectX 9.0c and my graphoc card drivers, but it happens every time I try to play a game.
What might be doing this? I've got an AMD 2600+ and use XP SP2, AC97 soundcard and AOPEN 5200 256MB gfx card.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Try playing other games that are quite cpu intensive for a while, not just mame I mean, other emus or pc games. My computer used to do that, turned out to be 2 capacitors on the motherboard, right next to the cpu, that looked like they were about to explode. Despite having a soldering iron powerful enough for my pc's motherboard, I managed to replace them with 2 new capacitors that cost me 1$ total, never had a problem since, and it's been over a year.

There used to be a bunch of faulty capacitors, I'm just saying it might be it, check them out, it's quite easy to see if they're busted.
