SubjectI own these roms! I sware I do! I have a question though..... new Reply to this message

I have double dribble, and my friend and I spent most of our youth playing this great game. The game doesn't work anymore......even playing nes emulators is not the same, because the controllers are pc controllers, etc. We were wondering since there are rom dumpers, are there rom programmers that would help us? Price is important..... I can't be spending 200 dollars to play this game. But I was wondering since I have basic electrical skills is there a way to get this game working again? Like a blank cartridge I could program it in or something? Or is the NES so old it would be impossible to get to work again?

Thanks in advance!

Except for the NROM board type, NES cartridges don't contain just ROMs, but also hardware needed for bankswitching, IRQ generation, mirroring, etc. so there is no such thing as a blank NES cartridge you can copy any game to.

you can get Double Dribble for 2 bucks on ebay.

Maybe he's in love with that exact/specific copy. :P

Also - to the original poster - make sure that the pins of the cartridge and the pins in the NES are clean. Use rubbing alchohol if need be. NES games rarely die - its the connectors that get dirty and the game stops functioning.

Also - don't "blow on the games". The reason that works is because saliva moistens the points and allows the current to flow across the pins - however its not good for the game since the there might be cross flow from one pin to another.

Maybe someone else can provide a better explaination - but you could short out the game or the console (NES) that way.

Mame On!

Yeah, well we are both geeks (my friend and I), and thought it would be an intresting project for both of us. We've made a MAME cabinet, and some 'modifications' to our xboxes so we thought it would be a nifty new project!

Any ideas for new projects that aren't too hard, and of course not too easy?

thanks to everyone!
