I picked up a Sega Genesis a week or two ago and I was wondering how it is that they do their A/V cables? I have the RF switch but that's just so Atari. Anyone have any tips?

I've seen the first page you linked before, they have something for the saturn, but I'm not sure there's enough info. All I have is a crappy rf switch that needs some pressure on the av port and the image is terrible. If you get anything for the saturn, composite or svideo mod, please tell me.

But you'd have to look into it more (i'm not a saturn guy, sorry :( because I know some consoles/comps had outputs that were s-video back in the day, but they were really just derived from an internal composite feed (or something of the like) giving inferior qulaity.

But then again, maybe its my memory (could have been vga boxes, cos I KNOW those had issues).

I've been meaning to pick one up for...oh...about a decade now. Fucking hell, one of these days I'm going to do it. I'm tired of my composite captures looking like ass in comparison to my svideo captures from my playstation.

What do you mean here? The video port on the Genesis does regular composite video or RGB if you have a monitor/TV that will accept RGB. It's also worth pointing out that there are three different models of the Genesis. The third is generally pretty rare, but the other two are equally common. You're probably best off just buying a video cable off eBay (Most Genesis composite cables you find will only have mono sound). If this is unnacceptable, then you can always build your own if you have the means. Here's a diagram of the video port.

If I'm not mistaken, the Genesis 1 has the same video port as both the Sega Master System and the NeoGeo.

I don't mind using my crappy soldering skills I build in college to build me some sort of cable, even if it would be composite I wouldn't mind, it would be much, much better than what I have (my nes rf switch is 10x better).

I never bought anything from lik-sang, and well, I don't really wanna. The shipping prices from hong-kong must be quite scary, and to that you gotta add canadian duty taxes which can be pretty big for absolutely no apparent reason sometimes (suprisingly I only paid 8$ for my 2 players x-arcade).

Don,t get me wrong, the price for the s-video cable is great, I'd buy it but I'm scared I'll pay 5 times more for shipping, so I'd rather do it myself.

Don't have to pay HK shipping with him, heard good things too.
