It's been a while I'm not in touch with MAME politics.

What happened to the system16 driver that someone was supposed to rewrite from scratch and publish in 2006?

Is it out, do we still have to wait some months, or did this post just ruin the lives of MAMEDevs and cause the release to happen in 3015? :)

It's in and it rocks.

Try Galaxy Force 2 and Power Drift with full rotation!

Look around here: http://cgfm2.emuviews.com/index.php
At Aarons Giles' site, and here:

for more info.

Erm, originator of what?
Dave figured out Afterburner (I'm not worthy!, I'm not worthy! ;))but it sure wasn't the first sys16 emu as such.

I know, I know..

I guess the great Sega Rewrite of 2006 for me was primarily about getting to see Galaxy Force and Power Drift with full rotation!

Daves emulator was the first to run Y-board games for a long long time. At least in public anyway.

Before it was called FinalBurn, did that emu have another name? I forget.

...it's Shinobi time. Ninjas are cool, and by cool I mean totally sweet.

Man, I had Power Drift for the C64 and I hated it because the arcade version was SO much better... now I can have my revenge!

It was just a little program called atest (After Burner test) and I got up to atest4 (or 5). It was hardcoded to play Out Run, Space Harrier or After Burner, so I generalised it. I released the first version as After Burner Emu, and thought up a better name (Final Burn)

Unforunately I haven't been able to dig up any of the Atest recently
