This makes now for a total of 50 supported (unique) arcades in JEmu2, of which 20 games with online high scores and 22 games with sound support.

Try it at http://www.gagaplay.com

Interesting...Gotta try it
How does performance compare to MAME (n00b question, I know)

JEmu2 is java based, so expect MAME to be faster. I just compared with 2 games and they were 18% resp. 28% faster in MAME.
If you can get Java Web Start to use the 'server VM', you will get better performance. With those 2 games it was as fast as MAME for the 1st game, for the other game MAME was about 17% faster.

Emulator development involves a lot of things where java is not really good at, performance wise (array access everywhere).

EDIT: I tested using the 1.6 client VM (early access snapshot release) and the 1.4.2_03 server VM. Tested against MAME 0.37 (really old version I know, maybe the latest MAME does better but this version is the only one I have lying around right now. TBH I expected the difference between MAME and JEmu2 to be much bigger).

Multiplayer was already on my todo list, but can't make any promises about when it will be ready :-)

The latest version of mame will be slower but more accurate. That version is the holy grail for embedded or cabinets based on old crap computers because of its faster.

btw, I'm VERY impressed! I wish I could set some defaults (like no vsync... it runs to fast until I turn that on and throttle back off)

Great feature for online hiscores.

Do you know when the cottage version is going to be out? I would love to incorporate this directly into JFront (my java based frontend). I would love to be able to just pop the game in a window in the frontend over the screenshot!

Thanks! :-)
Good suggestion. It sounds like the throttling doesn't work correctly on your system, though... Are you using JEmu2 in windowed mode?
Currently, when you choose windowed, it'll default to no vsync, throttling turned on. When you choose full-screen, it will try to find a 'compatible' mode (for example 60Hz for a 60Hz game). When it finds such a mode, it will enable VSync and disable throttling, otherwise it's the other way around. However, this assumes vsync can be set through software (a video driver setting).

I hope to release CottAGE next weekend, but first I have to fix the replacement 68k core in JEmu otherwise sf2 will be broken :-S
