SCSP emulation is up to 90% complete. Holy fucking shit.

Anyone who hasn't tried it yet, you gotta try SSF, I've been using it for 8 moonths and it rocks, best free legal Saturn emu bar none.

The GUI crashes as soon as I click the executable. Doesn't even give me a chance to configure it. Do I have to use a Japanese OS or something? I'm running XP Pro SR2.

If you've got an Athlon, it won't run. If you have an Athlon64, it won't run as well as it would on a similarly rated P4 (because of the core clockspeed). Darn SSE2!

Also, you can set the error messages to be in english if you go to the \message\ subdirectory and edit default. so that english is on the top.

I have an Athlon64 3200+ and ut doesn't seem to run at all. Oh well, I'll wait for some *hopefully* further developments.

It requires a Pentium 4 due to the SSE2 instruction set, I THINK (I could be off on this) SSF Alpha R3 or R4 and below did not require the SSE2 instruction set but running that was alot slower (I noticed that when he seemed to implement SSE2 the emulator got a significant speed boost).

I should also mention the emulator (as Saturn is complicated) does not use 3D acceleration, and everything relies on your core CPU speed as Roushi said. My setup is 3.4 Ghz Pentium 4, so I was able to squeeze out good speed. It is getting better though, and the guy behind it constantly updates it ever few weeks, so hopefully it'll run on more setups in the future.

SubjectWait for Icarus new Reply to this message

I still have faith in the Icarus project coming out at some point in the future with the promised ability to read original GD-ROMs.

I'd be just as happy if Chankast would support the ability to play normal rips of Dreamcast games which are larger than a CD. Right now if you throw anything larger than 700mb at it, it'll tell you to go fuck yourself. From what I've read, the author is busy as hell with real life right now (working on Commandos 4 or some such)...so yea.

TANGENT -> Any other emulator authors willing to admit to working for game companies?
