Hmmm. Baffled here, too.

Best I can think of is re-installing to a new directory and setting it up again. Look for a couple other versions of the BIOS, maybe the file you have is corrupt.

It doesn't matter which version of the BIOS you use (JP, US, EUR), as any game will work with any BIOS. You just need to make sure that you have the right REGION selected before you start a game.

I've got an A64 3000+ myself with an ATI 8500 and same RAM; no problems here.
