I was about to reply with "hey, that's cheating!" but you know... it doesn't really matter. The caves were a stupid idea. The manual included a map so that helped a lot. Puzzles should be solvable without requiring you to die a zillion times.

If you were really persistent, you could actually map them out on a piece of paper, trying an alternate fork every time you died. Eventually you'd get the correct path... but by then, it would be too late because the very protons that make up your body would have decayed.
