http://psxemulator.freeservers.com/

brand new playstation emulator that doesn't use plugins and apparently has extremely high compatibility. Have our prayers been answered finally? Download it and find out!

Now if only there were a similar N64 emulator...

At this point I'd be suspect that "doesn't use plugins" really just means "stole Pete's code" (no, I'm not saying that's the case, just that a new emulator cut from whole cloth by unkonwn people is usually suspect). But I'll give it a try.

ETA: it doesn't work with real CD drives. I installed the genuine Adaptec ASPI layer for XP and it claims my DVD writer "isn't a CD drive". Which is strictly true, but not useful in this instance.

And the N64 emulator of everyone's dreams is gonna be called "MAME/MESS". Really. http://www.mameworld.net/vlinde/

*shrug* He's Lewpy's friend, ask him. Aren't all of you coder types in cahoots anyhow?

Yea, it doesn't mention working with it in the readme, but then again it doesn't mention NOT working with it either. Hell, it doesn't mention actual cd support.

Been following that but it looks like it's still pretty early on. It remains to be seen if he'll actually finish it or get bored and move on to some other wacky stuff :

That's true, with Lewpy involved he *has* to be up to no good ;-)

Ville's actually the ideal guy for this, because the N64 is most architecturally similar to the Jaguar. And Ville wrote Project Tempest, which I believe is still the benchmark emulator for that system :)

He might be ideal, but I still doubt that the N64 driver in MESS will hold his attention long enough to finish it :)

You mean the way SPI didn't and Hornet didn't? :)

LOL there's even an option to load a PS2 BIOS if I'm not mistaken -- hopefully portent of good things to come :)

Oh and the emulator rocks :-) GT2 runs like a dream.

edit: had to disable frame-skipping, though, doesn't seem to work right, emu is fast enough anyway.

edit2: I SAID GODDAMN! http://img145.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc113&image=42399_p2.JPG
