If you update the Outrun set to the latest 0.105 MAME set it won't work! Not even if you combine all the ROMs from the bootlegs into one zip - you need the Outrun set as used previously in Final Burn still...

Outrun still works fine on my Logitech MOMO Force (red) wheel, wasn't able to use split axis tho I didn't mess around long, maybe just need to get settings right.

As for Afterburner - it's Afterburner II only in fact. You have to steer the joystick left and right once game fires up to get successful motor reads (once you set dip switch as described on the page too).

I tried Afterburner II on my MOMO wheel (lol) and my ye olde Microsoft Force Feedback Pro (gameport!) joystick. Both seemed to do some forces, only in the left/right direction - the game doesn't have up/down forces, never realised that before!

It's practically unplayable on the Microsoft stick as it uses electronics to auto-centre the stick too meaning the game force feedback whacks it hard to centre, the stick goes beyond centre and wobbles chaotically back and forth as it engages left then right force! The crash effect is okay but a little weak (feels better on wheel bizarrely, like there are more wobbles if that makes any sense).

I did notice a bug tho - the Afterburner II force feedback seems to stop working shortly into the game, often after a crash (i.e. when you lose a life).

Note also in the F2 game settings you can increase the force feedback power inside the game under the Motor Test menu,
