From my younger years, i recall wasting a lot of tokens on Gladiator just trying to get the female on level 2 Topless.

I KNOW it is possible, because i did it back then. Her nipples were bright fuchsia. Is there any particular version I should get of the romset in order to be able to pull this fantastic feat again?

I think tried the japanese one (usually the uncensored version), a while ago, but the girl had a top. A fuchsia top... the same color of the nipples in the uncesored version. They didn't even rework the palettes for the "fix".

I also tried taking the top off with the sword, but she always dies on me.

Yes it is possible, in the Japanese version. I remember seeing it; I think the cheats DB has something for it.

The Japanese version ("Ohgon no Siro") and the prototype ("Golden Castle") have a nudity feature not present in Gladiator. The female warrior Irene is shown with bare breasts when defeated by removing all layers of her chest armor (In Gladiator she still wears a bikini top when defeated this way).
