SubjectThe days of old... Reply to this message

I find myself longing for Jim's EmuNews on AOL, Dave's Video Game Classics, Jose Q's Emu Views and Retrogames when Opi was posting every 13 minutes. There was even an Emucamp and a place called Zophar's which posted some news. Props to the people who are still trying to keep this niche alive! But to paraphrase Merle Haggard "I can't help but fear that the good times are really over for good." Maybe I just got spoiled! :)

With the exception of CPS3 *which may never happen*, Naomi *ain't happening for a while*, Buggy Boy, Tekken Tag, Soul Calibur, and a number of obscure games, most of the "popular" arcade games have been emulated, and there's not much happening that interests the Pokerom collectors, although there has been a number of MAME updates...

yeah those were some exciting times...neo geo emulation was just starting, callus was around...ok, well maybe that was the start of it going downhill, but it's when i first learned about emulation :) used to check dave's classics all the time for updates.

i think the mame team is doing some cool stuff, but the only game not fully emulated that i'd like to play is task force harrier :) i'm just glad they're documenting all the hardware and games. arcades these days just aren't what they used to be.
